Tarzan's courtship of the female ape Teeka ends in failure when her preference turns to their mutual friend, Taug. This starts an identity crisis for the young ape-man, but it is not enough to stop his many adventures. In this epic novel, Tarzan skirmishes with the blacks of the village of Mbomga encounters a nightly native doctor and is even rescued by his animal friends.
